DCM Bypass Plug for Toyota and Lexus Telematics - Mayday Module Delete

This adapter can be used to disable and remove the telematics DCM on Toyota vehicles that have the early version of the telematics DCM (This is known as the MAYDAY MODULE on early models and is part of the Toyota Safety Connect system on newer vehicles). Disconnecting the Data Communication Module (DCM) on a Toyota vehicle will disconnect the front right speaker and disconnect power from your OEM handsfree microphone. Many customers would like to remove the DCM for security reasons and some vehicles have noted failures in this module causing unnecessary battery drain when the vehicle is not running. We have designed this adapter kit specifically for the purpose of removing the DCM module. This module sometimes fails and can produce high pitch noises or drain the battery. This adapter fixes these problems.

Installation:

For the Highlander models, the DCM is located in a particularly awkward spot (under the shifter). A Customer did this video to show how to install the bypass plug in a 2019 Highlander. Hopefully this will make this job a bit easier!

Not sure where the DCM is in your vehicle?
Finding the module is the only tricky part of this install. Look up your year and model here for a location diagram, what has to come apart to reach it, and how long it takes.

Does your vehicle have a DCM? Not all Toyota/Lexus vehicles have a Data Communication Module. The DCM is part of the Safety Connect system (called "MAYDAY MODULE" on early models). Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near your rearview mirror or overhead console. If your vehicle does not have this button, it does not have a DCM and does not need this product.

Check the list below before you order. Most of these kits go into a 2016-2020 Toyota, but the plug also fits a number of earlier Lexus models - those are the most common pre-2016 fits by far. A few notes worth reading:

• 2015 Highlander: this plug does fit it, but it is unusual to actually find a DCM in one. Check for the SOS button first.
• Older vehicles: do not assume an early car has a compatible module. Plenty of them were built without telematics at all, so a 2013-era vehicle is far more likely to need nothing than to need this part.
